19th of November: A New Revolution for Egypt ?

After the Million man protest on Friday 18th of November, which was to refuse the "pre-constitutional" document proposed by the SCAF (Supreme Council of the Armed Forces) and to demand a fixed date for presidential elections, some groups decided to stay in Tahrir Square, but were met with brute force on the 19th !

The "pre-constitutional" document (often called Al-Silmi's document named after the deputy prime minister who formally orchestrated it) gives unprecedented authorities to the SCAF, which make it above the law, above transparency and above parliamentary monitoring and evaluation. It makes Egypt just as any country ruled by a military junta, Egyptian political factions have collectively rejected the document, although some regime cronies under the guise of new groups and elitists under the guise of liberals who want to halt the political process to take away Islamist political influence in the coming parliament.

at least one has died and 700 injured in the clashes between security forces and protestors, from allover the country. Police forces clashed with those who stayed after the 18th, on hearing the news, Egyptians poured from all directions into Tahrir, by the 7:00pm local time, security forces have left the

Memories of the 25th and 28th of January when the revolution first broke out was the talk of Egyptians, Tear gas everywhere, gun shots of pallet bullets heard, Mulims praying on Kasr Al-Nile Bridge surrounded by protecting Copts, a ground mini-hospital for first aid and focal for tranfering the injured right infront of KFC in the Square.

Switching on Egyptian TV stations, the same rhetoric and discourse overwhelms what has been said in the eary days of the revolution, go online and it is a different discourse, different perception, a different world. Egyptian state run media have been trying very hard to depict it into an Islamist uprising, despite the participation of liberals including the 6th of April movement.

It is absolutely clear that the SCAF is not going to let go of its transnational authority easily, however Egyptians are still in a revolutionary and furious at the response. Many in Egypt say a second revolution is in the making, and with the Arab spring still ongoing in Syria and Yemen, and the progress made in Tunis and Libya; it would stupid to think the political situation will settle in Egypt with a repressive authoritarian regime.

And being Content implies that you are so with whatever Allah gives you or abstains from you, that you know that Allah does so out of His infinite Wisdom, Mercy and Knowledge.

Being Content arises from knowing that whatever happened to you was meant to be and was not going to miss you. Qadar.

Being in Content is through Submitting to Allah, being a Slave to Allah.

Being Content through love; A true lover is Content by whatever the loved one gives, Love of Allah.

Being Content arises from realizing that Allah has Infinite Knowledge and that you are ignorant or with limited knowledge. Allah knows and you dont, therefore Allah will give you accordingly.

Be Content with Allah's religious legislation of Halal and Haram, and Allah's choices for you as son of Adam doesnt always want whats good for him, sometimes he wants whats bad for him, However Allah always wants whats good for you.

If you are Content you will be happy with what you got, if not you will hate more what you have.

You cant be a slave to Allah unless you also worship Him, even if you are given that which you did not hope for or been fortunate with.

When you are Content with Allah with very little provision he is pleased with you with very little worship, and if you are content at all times, Allah is Content with you when you hasten to repent.

Being in discontent with Allah will bring doubt in Allah. Doubt in his Justice, Doubt in his Mercy.

Being Content brings righteous deeds, being discontent brings sinful actions.

Whoever is Content with Allah has his heart Full of richness, security, pleasure and satisfaction with whatever Allah has provided.

Being Content is the gateway to Paradise. Being Content is the gateway to Happiness in this world and the hereafter.

A Weaker U.S in Egypt

As the Arab Spring goes on, blowing the winds of revolution on more Arab countries the position of the U.S becomes weaker and its policy makers panic.

And as the recommendations of various academics and scholars of social sciences -who tried to bridge the gap between these two civilizations apologetically or not highlighted the importance of dialogue- were overlooked as naive and useless, overlooked with arrogance. Now the U.S is seeking dialogue with the new big boys. Namely the Islamists.

Washington has on several occasions gestured that it would like to talk with the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt. The EU too on another note has invited the biggest Salafi political party in Egypt to its headquarters in Brussels to "get to know each other".

Sure Islamists generally have reacted positively by stating its positive step from Washington however, no one is thrilled. One of the Muslim Brotherhood spokesman on Aljazeera slammed the U.S and strongly denounced its previous foreign policy, saying that the U.S's global leadership is based on violence, use of force and oppression.

What is There to Discuss ?

Clinton said as she spoke about some dialogue occurring with members of the Muslim Brotherhood that the dialogue: "will continue to emphasize the importance of and support for democratic principles, and especially a commitment to nonviolence, respect for minority rights, and the full inclusion of women in any democracy. You cannot leave out half the population and claim that you are committed to democracy".

Non-violence would most likely refer to some sort of disassociation with Hamas, and committing to peace with Israel. Minority rights obviously to Copts and perhaps tolerance to some of the fishy political practice of the Pope. It could also mean including Copts in the Army, Police,National security and other institutions Copts were variously not included in. Women perhaps was just an ornamental addition to her speech as the Muslim Brotherhood have no objections in women political participation.

The gap between the interests of Islamists and the U.S is huge. What is there to discuss ?

Hamas will be a future topic.

Iran Containment (which is already ongoing)
and any other sensitive topic, which both entities stand on opposite ends with.

I highly doubt the Muslim Brotherhood will simply comply with the U.S on containing Iran, or on any regional politics unless there is mutual interest.

U.S Policies;

The U.S will try to attract the mellow fringe members of Muslim Brotherhood and try to empower them and give them some sort of platform to engage from. Which will be extremely difficult as the Muslim Brotherhood is highly knit and if any of its members acts alone he or she is basically severing them self from the group.

The U.S is trying to empower secularist and liberalist groups, The U.S has already spent millions of dollars on "democratization" which i doubt will continue to do so, as the Military council, the government, Islamists and public opnion/ the revolution is disgusted by it. And the seemingly innocent statement by the current Ambassador of the U.S to Cairo's about giving 40 million dollaars to "support democracy" was met with rage and government formed committees to stop such practice. Either way even if the money keeps flowing it will not undermine Islamists in Egypt.

The Constitution First Campaign.
The U.S has been heavily involved from the start in pushing for a constitution first so that there is more time for secularists and liberalists to gather, harness and mobilize supporters against Islamists. Before the referendum (over accepting the constitutional amendments or rejecting them) the U.S almost tied its aid to pushing for the constitution first, before parliamentary and then presidential elections.

The American Chamber of Commerce also organized a conference with News Paper Al Masry Al Youm (which is owned by a Coptic Billionare Naguib Sawiris currently being investigated for corruption charges) strongly arguing in favor of a constitution first.

The referendum was made and 77% of over 16 million voters approved it. However did the calls for the making a new constitution first stop ? No! they kept ongoing and the U.S kept funding the campaign "Ad-Dustoor Awalan", "The Constitution First", Money was also provided by Sawiris.

All in Vain

Today no one has given any attention to the "constitution first", and it has become no longer heard of. There was a previous Friday in Tahrir Square organized by those calling for this campaign some of them even used slogans against Israel to try and harness more support, in the end only a few thousand people showed up.

On the 8th of July and as the Muslim Brotherhood, Salafis and other Islamists said they will participate in the friday of "The Revolution First".Protestors are over a million if not hundreds of thousands.

The U.S is still active on the Economic front through the IMF and using other methods to keep Egypt weaker, however on the grassroots level the U.S has failed miserably. Islamists are going very strong, the Muslim Brotherhood is very organized other Islamists are catching up, the U.S will be unable to anything about it, but try to engage in "dialogue".

Alhamdullelah I know I am very fortunate, but I also know I have stuck to my ideals, and somehow, even though I can be a horrible Muslim at times, Allah has helped me out. I have never done anything to harm anyone, nor sugarcoat anything unworthy of praise. I have had a friend told me that,,, that I am living up to my ideals, and I have not worked at a single place that cannot accommodate that.

I have always been outspoken, and never backed down in a debate, even if it is very controversial or potentially standing up for the "bad guys".

My advice to you in general and specifically if you are going into media, politics, NGOs etc. is that dont work for scumbags, dont work for embassies. I was once naive enough to think that if you work for the American embassy you can really show them that "Islamists" are not terrorists, that we love freedom just as anyone else, that if they can see that shariah is not horrible and that Islam is a true message of justice, peace and mercy.

Yet you alone cannot change the work of institutions, you are just a lowering ranking employee that can change nothing in the bigger picture, sure you can show that Arabs and Muslims are just as human like anyone else but that doesnt save a rat's ass.

Do not call someone a terrorist if they are not, dont stand up for the oppressors and abide by all their discourses, sure Muslims wrong others too, but dont make that obscure the bigger picture, that the Ummah is oppressed.

unfortunately those willing to compromise so much, do not start with that, its first "small" things" such as not praying on time so that people dont know you practice Islam, or you shave your beard or not wear hijab at all, or you attend parties or gatherings with drinking and so on.

Key is, you have done something other than for the sake of Allah, you have dignified other than Allah, and you have chosen to enslave yourself to the pleasure of others aconcerning you.

in the end all of this doesnt matter, in the end it is if you stand to up to Allah - who needs you not- and to this Ummah, and to the weak and oppressed, that you can find peace in yourself, and the assistance of Allah, those who debate you can talk trash all they want, yet when you confront them, they will back down, if not- rarely the case- you still know where you stand and you aint moving.

It is sickining how much people change as a result of wishful thinking, that they can actually change something by working for oppressive institutions, or engaging in a conference which the info that comes out of ultimately leads to the undermining of the Ummah. In the end you are pathetic, you can never be one of them nor you are of the Ummah. You become a despicable uncle tom, sure they might laugh with you, but they know you are a piece of shi* for selling out your own people. The more you stay in it the more you will need a radical shift in lifestyle to cure your illness, and so as anything in life which is wong.

remember that you are the slave of Allah, and Allah accepts only those who are pure and do actions only for his sake. Yet there are others too in this world who stand for their ideals not necessarily Muslim, yet they are better than you, they stood for their ideals and stood up for what they saw as just, and you saw the truth and stood for falsehood. fear Allah and say nothing bu the truth......... how much will you go...?? make the right turn and stand for righteousness

Week of Dieting

Am Back to Dieting alhamdullelah, since I stopped shortly after the revolution.

Its been almost a week, today is my cheat meal day,
pasta with alfredo sauce, mashed potatoes, meatballs and turkish meatballs and some sald

Just did my Cardio a bit late, on an empty stomach had my protein shake and a cup and a half of grind oatmeal, which is about 75 grams of carbs, I go to juma and hit shoulders traps and tris,

I have to do this for at least 2.5 months, see where it leads.

think am not getting enough calories as i often do a some out of office trips for work, thin i might add some protein and carbs, yesterday, I had a little less than kilogram of steak. felt so good !

Life

alhamdullelah, good stuff going on, good plans, projects, busy, busy, busy; no moe specifics on blog.

It seems sticking to your ideals, is not as easy as you do in university, but I cant see myself kissing butt or doing something I dont like, or working for a cause contradictory to mine. Good things are happening in Egypt, inshaAllah its going very well, and people like me will have a big say in what goes on and the track this country will take.

bodybuilding
So I have been able to pull of 60kg dumbbells (132pounds) in each hand and shrugged them 8 reps.
Since I stopped the diet right before the revolution I ballooned, still fit in my "motivation jeans" though my wife got for me. So I guess I should start dieting again all the way.

قال الامام ابن تيمية: « إنّ اللغةَ العربيّةَ من الدِّين، ومعرفتُها فرضٌ وواجبٌ، فإنَّ فهم الكِتابِ والسُّنةِ فرضٌ، ولا يُفْهمُ إلاّ باللغةِ العربيةِ، وما لا يتُّمُ الواجبُ إلاّ بهِ فهو واجبٌ » .وقوله أيضاً: « وليس أثر اعتياد اللغة الفصحى مقصوراً على اللسان ، بل يتعمق حتى يؤثر في العقل والخلق والدين تأثيرا قوياً بيِّناً، ويؤثر أيضاً في مشابهة صدر هذه الأمة من الصحابة والتابعين، ومشابهتهم تزيد العقل والدين والخلق»

Imam Ibn Taymiyah: " The Arabic language is part of the Religion (deen)and knowing it is mandatory (fard). For understanding the book (Quran) and Sunnah is fard and are not understood without knowing the Arabic language. And whatever is required to complete a must (wajib) itself is a wajib." and also said: " The effect/consequence of getting accustomed to classical/ fus-ha Arabic is not only limited to the tongue, but its effect is profound on the mind, manners and deen; an effect which is clear, and it also affects the imitation of the first generation of this Ummah; Sahaba and Tabien, and their imitation increases the mind, deen and manners. "

Note than Imam Ibn Taymiyah was not an Arab, rather was a Kurd. May Allah have mercy on him.

It was insane, just bench pressed 298 pounds (135kg) for 8 reps ! MAshaALLLAAH! haha
I need to go for 145g 8 reps I think I ll do that inshaALlah in like a month if I keep it up! which is three plates on each side, considering I still never did steroids thats pretty solid.

Alhamdullelah awesome day especially that I wasnt planning at all to improve my bench press.

I came across an article on Aljazeera English that discusses a perception I share of American foreign policy. An article written by a professor of Anthropology in Concordia university.
(on side note, professors of anthropology- in general- have been independent from the state department and not supporters of neo-imperialism as professors of Political Sciences.)

A Policy that is cunning and hypocritical, nonetheless the Clinton doctrine basically:

"is a mixture of realism and opportunism and a desire to intervene without being seen to intervene. It is a low cost foreign policy"

"involves hedging US bets by keeping a foot in almost all camps, maintaining contact with different sectors in the society, emphasising "stability" when regime survival seems possible, and then emphasising "orderly transition" when change seems probable."

The professor - that I salute- ended it with:
"What kind of friend to Egyptians has the US been? How credible is its record of supporting democracy in Egypt? Does Obama believe the US will not be called to account?"

I was recently talking to an American friend of mine who is doing his Masters in International Relations in an Ivy League university in the states, and I must tell you Americans are delusional when it comes to their foreign policy. Claiming "we will have cordial relations with the new regime just as we did with the old one" . Oh really ?

They some how do not hold themselves responsible at all for the survival of the old regimes - despite lavish military,intelligence and economic support along with turning a blind eye on extreme human rights violations and absurd corruption. Then expect the victim -those who lived under those expired but supported regimes- to be equally cooperative with them and wave the American Flag as Hilary drops (or trips for that matter) by to say hi and behave.

what adds insult to injury is the recent visit of John McCain Tea Party home boy to Tunis to ensure military cooperation, never mind the U.S veto over condemning israeli settlements in occupied territory and Tea Party soccer mom shortly before that saying, that no one has the right to condemn israel building settlements on occupied land!

Sleepless in Cairo

Partially why I haven't been writing here, is that I would rather write something meaningful and analytical, I have been freelancing for a bit. If you search for me ( for those of you who know my name) you might find stuff I wrote. well not as much as I would like, but inshaAllah very soon.

Tahrir was just amazing, no one argues, we all knew what we wanted, and our responses to any government propaganda were the same, our goals were the same, and we didnt back down.

outside tahrir it could be a bit different as there are some mixed reactions, some of the cowards give in, some have family ties to those with an interest in maintaining the system or just bunch of ******** who turn a blind eye on all the rubbish Mubarak has brought. of course most of them shut up after he left and started pretending to be our friends.

Confirmed Mubarak to be greeted in UAE; the hours before.

So what happened ?

Basically Mubarak had this speech recorded and it was going to be broadcasted on the night of the tenth.

There were arrangements however, that Mubarak might leave to UAE as the foreign minister came to Cairo and gave him a message from the Emir. This guaranteed Mubarak a safe stay somwhere, there were talks about going to Germany of course. UAE of course sought Saudi's approval.

While Mubarak was having all his options open, he knew he had to leave at some point, there were plenty of signals for this, in Alharam news paper and national TV as well as the new head of the "National Democratic Party" who said the best thing Mubarak can do is leave, which is an obvious turn against him. It was only a matter of time.

The Military however stepped in and carried out a meeting without Mubarak, recognizing the legitimacy of popular grievances and demands. Which is basically snatching authroity from Mubarak. They also said they will protect the country which is basically saying we run the country for now.

The statement the Military issued came after Mubarak's recorded message. Had the military not said anything Mubarak would still have been in Cairo, or least in Sharm al Shaikh, as there were talks about going to protest in front of the presidential palace. Thus the message came as it was, meaningless to what people want, all what he said was he is delegating his powers to Suliman the vice president.

Suliman later pops up in a very desperate speech almost begging Egyptians to go back having a "normal life"

Mubarak is now in UAE for sure or minutes away,

The military will intervene more and are probably carrying out a meeting as I type this.
They will announce that they do not recognize Mubarak due to the revolution that took his legitimacy and will lead a transitionary period,,, we yet have to see how this unfolds,

the options are still limited, I will wait for more info before forecasting.

Mubarak off to UAE

Rumors and predictions state that Mubarak went off to UAE.
especially that the foreign minister of UAE came to Cairo with a message from the Emir.

However the military has issued a statement after a meeting which did not include Mubarak. Which signaled a message for him to leave.

This is despite the just broadcasted statement by Mubarak.
I heard too from a friend that the airport was made empty for him, and that 5 cars of money were being loaded onto an airplane, which seemed like it was Mubarak leaving.

I think he almost landed in UAE now.
Saudi would not min taking him too
but UAE most likely.

I just came back from Tahrir, I doubt the rumors I mentioned in the earlier post will have any chance.
I was afraid that numbers may decline, Nope! hundreds of thousands were there, and you have to pass through many civilian check points and a bunch of military ones. Seems pretty safe despite the thugs away from an entrance.

There are all kinds of people, all peaceful, and they all want mubarak to leave, otherwise they are staying in Tahrir.

I believe he will have no choice but to leave inshaAllah.

Rumors of attmpting to harm American Embassy in Cairo.

There are rumors and it has been said by Omar Afifi a previous Egyptian army general and currently an academic that the Egyptian regime will try to push protesters to the very near by American Embassy and violently engage the protesters there. As well as sabotage the Embassy using thugs and police men out of uniform.

This is to justify extreme use of violence against protesters!

Pro- Dictator Mubarak (Thugs and police in civilian clothes) are shooting at pro-democracy protesters, many have been injured and some died, the military there is largely standing useless,,,
thugs been throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at them even though women and children are present in tahrir square

Mubarak's thugs are going to length to protect this dictatorship, I suspect the military may intervene if it gets bad, although there are rumors that the military might just leave its posts!!!!!

my neighborhood in Cairo however has been largely free of those thugs, makes sense they are in Tahrir!

Cutting, You Mad Brah ?

Aiwa, so Alhamdullelah,

This week I weight at 108kg lost 1kg for the week and actually made some strength gains on the bench press, squat and other lifts which was surprsing given that am dieting, alhamdullelah it never went this good, I think now I know exactly what am doing, just need to keep it up and am gonna be shred like mad brah! you mad ? dont hate say, mashaAllah haha.

and I grew my arm 0.1 inch haha despicable. once I am down to 98kg inshaAllah I can bulk again, alhthough I wanna try to go even lower, this is all wishful thinking I should just be patient and see how it goes inshaAllah.

start day: January 8th @ 112kg currently 109kg.

so am back on the diet plan that was disturbed by my weird allergic reaction, managed to get my weights up again, and now am on a hardcore diet, no messing around.

day1: back
day2: rest
day3:chest + bi (optional)
day4: rest or biceps
day5:legs
day6:shoulders + traps + triceps
day7: rest

everyday first thing on the morning 30 min cardio followed by nonstop a variety of abb/lower back exercises- high reps.

200 grams carbs 300 grams protein some fat (dont count, by feel)

no suger what so ever, no salt what so ever, all salts I take come naturally from lemon or tomatoes (salt retains water fat!). carbs complex, mainly oatmeal and wholewheat bread, rice optional only after work out with weights,

day 7 cheat meal !!!!! up the carbs to maybe 400 grams I havent decided yet, I get to eat one big meal in the day, the rest the same I am not going to mess this up and just go to town on candy, the key is healthy carbs, not empty calories of junk food.

subhan Allah time is passing by so fast ! was just at a gathering to celebrate an old university bro/mate who just had a baby boy, a lot of bros were there from when I first got in to uni, and as I was one of those very rare folks who got into deen so early, in fact I was the youngest among them mashaAllah a lot of them have kids already, some of which I been seeing every now and then others I havent seen in years, most of them were eager to know what I been up to and all the research I been doing and what not. Oh haha, all of them said I got really wider/bigger.

and what was really nice too was to see the sheikh I use to attend to, I was happy to see him as he was happy to see me.

alhamdullelah good to see a lot of the bros in good deen as there have been a few drop outs,

life goes by, you can spend it on nothing with ease or on something with difficulty, in the end when you are older you will have that self satisfaction or that regret on waste of youth.

I remember I took a class back in 2006 on technology and politics, our professor at the time asked us in one of our seminars does any of you refuse to use a certain technology? he went on about how he doesn't have a cell phone and that he refused to be easier to access, its enough that he has a home and office phone as well as an email. Students were like "OMG you don't have one!"

So he asked us. No one lifted my hand but me, as everyone in class turned to look at me; I said "TV, I dont have a TV". Students again surprised, "you dont have TV?!", "OMG how could you live!!?"

Yes ! I didn't have TV and I think movies in general tend to come with a twist of filth, that give a a person with the slightest feel/ of possession of eman a repulsive response. Soap Operas are even worse and they are just outright Haram. I remember all the people I use to tell that the show Friends is haram and just clearly inappropriate, of course then came later sex and the city, and even later desperate house wives and what not which are all shows that acquaint you and normalize to you illicit behavior, they gradually make you implicitly accept their underlying low morals.

This reminds me of the hadeeth; who ever sees an evil/munkar then let him change it with their hand, if they cant then with their tongue if they cant then with their hearts (aka reject it) and there is not a a grain of turmeric worth of faith behind that, (and in another narration: and this is the weakest of faith). So how bad is it to just sit and watch something that promotes that which Allah forbids ?

Going on to Wikileaks, and guess what, an ongoing conspiracy to westernize Saudis (and Arabs in general through MBC, Rotana and Al-Arabiya news channel (which is also trying to counter aljazeera as the leak shows too) , these channels basically westernize, and are mouthpieces for the Status quo in Saudi, promoting that the regime stays in place and to act against Islamist opposition.

This leak shows the American representatives to the Arab league, Gulf Cooperating Council (GCC) and "Islamic Collective" ( I guess Islamic affairs of some sort) meeting with owners of media in Saudi or those who know them or overlook their activities, assuring them that strategic interests of America are being met (through Arabic subbed friends, desperate housewives among others)

Egypt: plunging further into the Abyss of Dictatorship

Yes Egypt indeed has gone a few decades back when it comes to political liberalization. I am personally not surprised at all, whatever has been given by an upper hand can also be taken by that same upper hand. “Upper” being the government/ regime, which in reality is a dysfunctional alliance between a few essential ministries run by a few security institutions (of course protecting the regime and its interests and all what keeps it surviving nothing more)

The parliamentary elections a few days ago were a complete farce, the opposition was not allowed to advertise their candidates, and the government that is represented by the (so called) National Democratic Party (NDP), Candidates that were likely to vote for opposition were prevented from entering the ballot boxes, Many of the opposition candidates were simply knocked out the list competitors and were not allowed to run – despite the administrative court ruling against this practice as unconstitutional eventually making elections in several electoral districts as illegitimate and requiring they be redone, voters for opposition were beaten up in clashed with national security forces, some died others severely injured. Ballots were stuffed with fake votes, where the opposition and NGOs have caught such incidents on camera, youtube is full of them I could estimate something like 30 of them. Judges were not allowed to monitor the elections, nor independent or national media, that were not allowed to take any live footage from the elections. In the next round of elections the opposition pulled out in protest of what happened. Finally the administrative court ruled that the entire elections were illegitimate and that they should be carried out again, the next parliament will be illegitimate and it has asked the president who has the right to dissolve it to do so and call for reelections.

Of course this was not the only thing on the plunging state freedoms; 12 Islamic channels have been shut down by the government, while threatening to shut down others, several public celebrity media persons were put out of their jobs on TV, their programs shut down, an editor on chief of one of the biggest oppositional newspapers was put out of his position. Of course as usual hundreds of the Muslim Brotherhood are in prison with for no legal reason; and this stuff all happened in the past 2/3 months. This is aside from several national scandals of police men killing regular innocent citizens with no political or religious or any significant affiliations, that has mobilized protests in thousands especially in Alexandria where its entire beach had silent mourners wearing black and praying for Khaled Said, killed by Egyptian cops, (a facebook group for him has over 350 000 members). Another incident a woman was rapped (despite that she was wearing niqab) by a police man aided by low rank security persons. And female university students beaten up by police as they wanted to enter their university and they were refused for "being affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood" (one of them beaten almost to death) which created widespread protests of disgust. The list of these atrocities is long and these are merely the ones that hit the media. And let us not forget Kamila Shehata and several other Copitc women who converted to Islam and were abducted by the church while the government stood by not doing anything, protests in Alexandria were made in at times reaching 50 000 and in Cairo with smaller numbers. ( the dynamics of sectarian politics in Egypt are becoming complicated and alarming)

Where the F is America ?

Well apart from the mere gesture of dissatisfaction the American ministry of foreign affairs has passed nothing has happened. In fact the Bush administration was way better in the way it handled this issue than Obama’s admin. America gives 1.3 billion dollars in “Military aid” to Egypt. Basically American Hawks see a weak and oppressed Egypt as in the interest of Israel. As if there is a democratic Egypt there is no way of guaranteeing that the elected government will maintain peace with Israel or remain quite on the atrocities Israel carries on the Palestinians etc. The current Egyptian government is basically acting as an Israeli agent running the country( not because it loves Israel but because it grantees its survival) . This is so true and its no conspiracy theory, you don’t need to read the wik leeeeeks on this its just enough to see Egyptian foreign policy on the way they have dealt with the siege and war on Gaza, The gas they give Israel for dirt cheap way below international prices etc. The only reason why America doesn’t protest to any domestic issues is because the government serves this vital function of perceived stability, yes in the short run it is so, but in the long run it wont be the case at all. The Egyptian government has went to lengths to please Israelis and Americans on its policy in the Middle East. That aid is basically invested in the security apparatus to keep the regime safe from domestic turbulence, the regime spends most of the national income on its security forget health care, forget education, forget infrastructure forget scientific research forget everything, this is what takes up most of the income. And America would accept anything this regime does so long as it serves its function with Israel.

Future Implications

A generation of youth including the educated, knowledgeable and politically conscious, including those who engaged in political reform, civil society and hoped for gradual political liberalization will give up on the idea of “peaceful reform”. What some commentators like to call “radicalizing the moderates”. Actually they are giving up on it now, and the “radicalization” is ongoing. This is not only in the younger generation but also in the counter elite aka the opposition which sees no use of engaging the political process (which was engaged only by the Muslim Brotherhood and al Wafd Party which both are rejecting it), yet its leadership is still not doing anything significant with its policies carrying on with its inertia but I suspect in the future the Muslim Brotherhood will not act in the same way. Even the reformist faction of the Muslim Brotherhood which is seen as extremely liberal by mainstream Muslim brotherhood has called for boycotting political life for 20 years and concentrate on Islamic preaching. This leaves for two options either violence or civil disobedience and in any case given the history of Egypt both are very likely to occur. In fact violence is just waiting to happen, an oppressive regime that conducts a foreign policy that negates the wishes and aspirations of its people that are very poor and mostly young and aware of their surroundings (with millions of them living in shanty unregulated towns) and a disenfranchised political counter elite you are just asking for trouble. An Iranian style revolution? maybe.

Alhamdullelah so Far not bad, not awesome.
Thesis! decided to give it more quality time since I am going to be doing a PhD inshaAllah, and a good thesis props up the prospects of getting into the best schools. So should be done in 2 months inshaAllah before reviewing the whole thing again, but leaves me plenty of time before the semester ends

need to look into good universities (which I already have done) but also a place with a good Muslim community, need to do a bit more research and asking around there!

So am all alone for now(sniff), my wife had to head out to Utah and inshaAllah I ll catch up with her soon. Utah! which is famous for yes the Mormons and the Mountains, never been there yet! so should be interesting to blog from there!. was keeping my self extremely busy with the thesis and extra readings for it along with 6 days a week working out leading into dieting, I was tops on, packing on muscle while loosing fat. my weights were going up till all of a sudden I am on the verge of croaking from some weird allergic reaction i got!
it started with some red patch on my right elbow then started spreading on my arm then on my left elbow then my butt and knees. I already had planned to go to a doc was told it was allergy from something. i took two shots in the bum and some meds. the next day it got worse my feet got swollen up and my hands ( Gross I know!) it was affecting my breathing too, and i got a bit feverish. I took two more shots the morning after going to a different doc who suggested that i should have taken a bigger dose since am a bigger guy. Which was exactly what I was telling myself. how could a Big huge Alpha Male like me take the dose of tiny little wiener twink. ehm no offense to the skinny guys haha anyways am good alhamdullelah now after a week, the redness on my skin is gone and am good to go hit the gym again inshaallah hopefully 12 days or so(depending on how fast i get my previous condition) before I try dieting again.

Ive been reading classified and secret reports that is sent through American embassies abroad to the state department in America. The stuff is not so surprising especially when it comes to the Arab paranoid dictators. But it just makes International Relations analysis so much easier. Good Dreams

Since I have been having a few nice Ru2yahs / dreams thought I would share this with you.
Dreams in fall into one of three categories;

Good dreams, in which one sees pleasing things, these are from Allah; they can be good news, warning from evil or just guiding you to Islam or to choices in worldly matters. One should praise Allah for them and to only tell people close and beloved to you and not others.
They are clearer to those most truthful in speech and those who are more pious.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that prophet Muhammad salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Towards the end of time, hardly any dream of a Muslim will be false. The ones who have the truest dreams will be those who are truest in speech. The dream of a Muslim is one of the forty-five parts of Prophethood. Dreams are of three types: a good dream which is glad tidings from Allaah, a dream from the Shaytaan which causes distress, and a dream that comes from what a man is thinking of to himself…”

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen may Allaah have mercy on him said:
The meaning of the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), “The dreams of the believer are one of the forty-six parts of Prophethood” is that the dreams of the believer come true, because they are like parables that the angel gives to the one who sees them. They may tell of something that is happening or that is going to happen, so it happens in accordance with the dream, so these dreams are like the revelation of Prophethood in that they come true, yet they are different from it. Hence they are one of the forty-six parts of Prophethood. (majmoo3 fatawa 1/327)

Usually good dreams occur after fajr. I never had one at night, and am not sure but I think they don’t come at night time, they usually come for me when I am good on deen and confused about something or sad. Also there are those who can interpret it for you, and there are some better than others in this and they should be aware of the context of your dream as well as the kind of person you are.

Bad dreams, are those from shaytaan, and they made you saddened grieved, distressed etc. if you get one in the middle of the night, you should spit dryly 3 times and turn to the other side and seek refuge in Allah from shaytan. Also you can get up to pray 2 rakas. You should also never tell anyone about your bad dream.

Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If any one of you sees a dream that he likes, this is from Allaah, so let him praise Allaah for it and talk about it to others. If he sees other than that, a dream that he dislikes, this is from the Shaytaan, so let him seek refuge with Allaah from its evil and not mention it to anyone, for it will not harm him.”

If are a sincere and pious bad dreams wont really bother you, but if you are sinful they will be more bothersome, and if you are constantly getting really horrible dreams, and ones you see specific animal/s like a black dog or cat, or snake or scorpion then you are very possibly possessed by Jin which is a whole different story. I will write about it in a future post inshaAllah.

Then you have dreams which do not fall into either category which is just your subconscious talking to itself replaying things you think about. Like you constantly craving cupcakes and didn’t have time to go to the cupcake store and when you did it was closed, so you see yourself in a dream jumping in a lake of yummy cupcakes or going into a house made of a cupcake and you just much on whatever is in front you.

Allah says in the Hadith Qudsi:

I am to my slave as he thinks of Me, and I am with him if he mentions Me, if he mentions Me in himself I mention him within Myself, and if he mentions Me in a gathering, I mention him in a gathering better than they, and if he comes a span nearer to Me, I go a cubit nearer to him; and if he comes a cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.

We have to think the best of Allah, we should know that His mercy comes before His anger and His forgiveness comes before His punishment, and with the constant remembrance and thikr of Allah, hardships are eased and pains of this world diminish; gradually being replaced with the sweetness of faith and closeness to Allah.

And in the end the world does not matter, and one can leave himself a prey to his desires and the desires of those around him only at their loss and waste of their life and shame on the day of judgment when standing before Allah, when all the signs have been made clear, and the truth
has been revealed and all of that which makes us closer to Allah has been said and all of that which makes us further away from Him and displeasing to Him has been said and Allah has warned over and over from the cursed shaytan, and that we should take him as our enemy;

O ye who believe! Enter into Islam whole-heartedly; and follow not the footsteps of the shytan for he is to you an avowed enemy.

This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.

There is simply no excuse to stray;

This is the path of thy Lord, a straight path. We have detailed Our revelations for a people who take heed.

And in the end its all our choice, whether we remember, and strive to master our desires and not enslave ourselves to them, glad tidings with pleasure await us, and as for those who neglect Allah, then Allah will punish them for their arrogance and neglect.

Then, as for him who rebelled, And chose the life of the world, Lo! hell will be his home. But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his soul from lust, Lo! the Garden will be his home.

Say: Lo! Allah’s Guidance is the (only) Guidance, and we are ordered to surrender to the Lord of the worlds.

Pumping up and letting go of knowledge

My frustration with Social movement theory is starting to get under my skin, especially the theory of framing processes, it deals with meanings and narratives and how they formed and all the variables they affect and all the variables it affects! I know way too more than what I wrote I stumbled on more factors very worthy of mentioning but more complex but am running out of time, I might just give it another 2 hours not more!

I just happen to know more, I think I am obsessed with getting everything in my theory chapter, but sorry my dear framing theory you just have to suck it up as much as I do.

on the other hand apart from writing and reading till after fajr and am on the verge of hallucination (maybe not but you get it) I have been doing great in the gym for a change, am getting bigger so it seems, not really but if i keep it up I will, I lifted insane weights with a friend, whose actually my youngest bro's friend from highschool! mashaAllah a beast! and a recent to practicing Islam( just from the previous ramadan), mashaAllah he got so religious, I never could have imagined it, my bro tells me he "changed 180 degrees"

we did some barbell rows @ 210 pounds 8 reps and 110 pounds dumbbell rows, , and other stuff by the time we got to dead lifts we were dizzy. on another note and another day I did 255 pounds bench press 8 reps and 232 10s, I m glad I go to the gym, else i loose my sanity, but I must admit am not that all into it as I use to be, maybe that will change soon inshaAllah.

yup, now I shall try to live with the fact that I may not include all what I know in the theory chapter, am fighting it for now, I won’t however pretend that I never stumbled upon it well maybe just for that chapter, but I will keep all what I know in mind and use them for the applications.

it sucks to know, and then not to be able to do for whatever reason. This is merely a chapter. I can only imagine of those who know the truth, know of Allah, of the day of judgment of Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him, and yet pretend and act as if they know nothing, what kind of self torture is that?

Social Movement Theory and Marriage

Yup I am writing my thesis and now I am indulging in intricate details of social movement theory, attempting to analyze how social movement organizations and social movements operate. There are so many conflicting opinions and categorizations in this field and it draws on from so many disciplines of social science. I am almost done with this chapter, which is a major one in my thesis, so that should be good and the rest will be fitting the info I have collected from interviews and secondary sources into the variables examined and vola; you got a brand new thesis.

It seems the quality of my thesis will have to suffer to meet the deadline, but I wont publish the one I am going to present the committee, I will give it a few more weeks and add some things which will require extra research and going back to more theory.

Marriage!
An extremely enriching experience subhan Allah. The amount of effort one has to put in it for it to work smoothly is a lot yet in the end its rewarding alhamdullelah. There is no doubt it makes you mature early if you get married early, and if you have kids then I can only imagine more. Women get moody and jealous and what not, and you have to cater to their attention, and you are gonna make mistakes too so you have to apologize as much as you expect your spouse to do so. Marriage gives you a whole new perspective on life and social relations.

Yet some people make it seem as if they are on an ever ending voyage to find their long lost love or their soul mate and what not, it becomes an end in itself. There is no doubt that marriage is a blessing and your blessings are from Allah, so whoever you marry is indeed your rizq. It doesn’t end with marriage, marriage indeed is half your deen in the hadeeth, and subhan Allah it is!!!!! it doesn’t mean you don’t have to keep your deen in check, you still have another whole half to work on. Its something necessary to hold hands with someone worthy to pass this world into the one after. It is no wonder that many get divorced so early, they think that they will find happiness in it when happiness is indeed in a good marriage but it is ultimately in following Allah’s way in everything including marriage.

I was once with a bunch of bros whom all congratulated me on marriage and one was like the first 2 years are tough and full of arguments, (another American desi bro on my day of marriage whom I knew since 2003 whom I was blessed to attend and called me kid back then haha was like just remember Osman said patience, patience, patience) after 2 years its all good, his wife told my wife in the gathering (segregated) that’s its 6 months LOL!!!! I guess the bro was patient for a year and a half more!!!! Than she was.

Arguments are inevitable especially at first when you have not lived together and don’t know day to day details of how about to go on with life. The man has to be really more patient, and prophet Muhammad saws was indeed patient with ALL of his wives! Aisha may Allah be pleased with her smashed a tray with food prepared by another wife (I forget which) and he saws laughed it off, 2 of his wives gave him something similar to honey but makes your mouth smell bad out of jealousy from other wives. And yet he saws never raised a hand against any of his wives. Let my wife smash anything, I ll just get up and whack her, no am kidding.

Oh yeah polygamy, now imagine all the issues of one marriage when you have 2 or more wives (every man’s dream) its awesome and all if you can ( sisters hate the subject), many would say that you have to be just and fair between them, but its really much more than that, it gets way more complicated, and the best example is our prophet saws.

prophet Muhammad sallah Alahu 3alayhi wa sallam had to deal with such issues and he was the leader of the Ummah, and running its affairs, so its not an excuse at all to be busy and neglect your household/s which I would like to remind myself with most of all.

now I will do plenty of squats since I couldnt go to the gym to do legs! then perhaps get back to my social freakin movement theory.

Cairo is lame, thats all I can say its nice for a while but not for long term basis.

and am Dieting and seems working well so far inshaAllah I keep it up.
I got in a car accident maybe I mentioned it before, but no car is so lame its in the freakin garage still when it was suppose to be done a few days ago.

writing the thesis, inshAAllah should be done on time, even though am going slow.
being a student and a husband (major responsibility!) and living close by to your mom is one hell of a tough thing, everyone wants a peice of you and with everything going on its just lame, I need a break and I think am becoming a hermit freak already with hardly any time to socialize.

oh yeah did I mention, I quit the job and got severance pay, I dont have to work isnt that awsome!? and I get to supposedly focus on my thesis, which isnt really happening at the desired degree of focusing, at least no more depressing daily news reports first thing in the morning on coverage areas where someone always has to croak.

Alhamdullelah had an awsome research trip, the people I encountered and new knowledge I gained is pricless. am a totally New Mass, I have developed new ideas,

I have come accross a person og high intellectual caliber, the best read since Edward Said's Orientalism, I was totally mind blown by this man's discourse, he is a Bedoin and an Islamist, he wrote a huge book (over 700 pages) with several chapters of research noting the changes in the Islamic political discourse regarding al-Hukm-Rule/ Governance. where he contextulizes the discourse used by various Islamic scholars within the political, social and economic context of the time.

noting them as

1- the original rightly guided discourse of the khulafah

2-the interpreted (slightly changed) discourse that came after

3- the innovated/changed/mu7araf discourse that we live in today.

The discourse of this man is so intense I was so mind blown, I have been so when I first came across edward said, and I used his discourse a lot in debates, I think this man will be my new guide for a long time in Islamic politics, I met him twice! and we fell in love pretty much, he was only going to give me 2o minutes after calling him, but after he met me and I talked to him about myself, he insisted that he gave me several extended meetings I was suppose to meet him in his house, but i was soo busy with other meetings/interviews, yet my interest with this shaikh/social scientist went beyond the research I was doing, and I know this sheikh will be one of those who revive Islam, and in decades and hundreds of years he will be remembered as a great scholar inshaAllah.

Today I saw something great, I saw a man pray but he was challanged and had difficulties with his legs, he walked with two crotches all the time, yet during prayer he would use one to stand and to bow and finally to make sujood, subhan Allah, it seemed he exrted a lot of effort to do so, I wondered to myself, how much would this man pay to get healthy normal legs? what would he do to get them? would he pray all the sunnah after salat in congregation ? subhan Allah, I think anyone would strive towards Allah if such was to be given, yet how many of us are healthy ? and disobey Allah.

on another note, I have been typing in Arabic for so long and the only one I talk to in english is my wife, I feel my english linguistic skills are somewhat rusty and am sure there are plenty of typos.

Finally Ramadan Mubarak, and may Allah make us of those whom make use of it.

So...
I was invited for dinner, then to meet one of the important folks that will help me with my research and ask him questions etc, Out in the dessert in a modernfied majlis/diwaniya, those who hosted the majlis were one of the most generous and noble, kind and warm people i ever came across.

all wore shmakh not ghetra, and at least some facial hair, some had long hair, they all stood up in the majlis when someone comes in and you have to shake hands with everyone, you shout out MASAAAAKUM ALLAH BELKHAIR every once in a while for the first few minutes. and you say shlonkum shakhbarkum etc... eople talk about random stuff, mostly politics, and a dude comes around with Arabic coffee, and dates

dinner of course, no spoon, just your right hand, in a common big plate, with an animal on a pile of rica haha.

anyways, so am going to go back to my town in souther egypt inshaAllah and visit our tribes peole there, 3uwaydah from banu 7azim from the mighty banu 7arb.

of course its not as it used to be decades ago, perhaps I will set an "NGO" with another distant cousin of mine who is also Poli Sci and went to the same university I did. Perhaps we can revive our tribal heritage thats already there, but just make it more of a big deal, and of course make it more Islamic, aint messin around.

I have been working out in this awesome gym when i have some time, seems a lot of people here are on steroids and lift very little, am all natural and I think I will stay that way inshaAllah, too many risks with doing steroids, dont think its the coolest thing to have a 21 inch biceps an yr impotent.

Cairo

Egypt is really about to explode or implode on itself, there have been a series of serious events in the country and at a very past political pace, I really have no idea what could possibly happen, bu the current regime seems to have lost the ability to absorb shocks, the people are somewhat becoming fearless of the regime, workers with relatively little education are taking protests down the street and in front the parliament and chanting slogans against the "president" and the government.

The tragic murder of innocent of Alexandrian Khalid Saeid in a very brutal and gruesome manner at the hands of corrupt police men who sell drugs and torture citizens has created public anger, and has resulted in a strong reinforcement of calls to abrogate the "emergency law" which allows any police man to do anything without a warrant from a court, basically knock on your door and drag you for no reason to the police station. Over the past few days there have been protests in Cairo Alex and many other provinces for Khalid and calls of ending the emergency law and taking his murders to court.

Facebook is just full of calls and a lot of the protests are organized through it, and its mostly youth.

Muhammed al Baradie the previous President of the International Atomic Agency, who has an internal consensus on being the next president and his facebook group has over a quarter million supporters is the stronger challenger to the current government, people recognize that he has international legitimacy and parties of all ideologies agree that he should be the transition to political change.

anyways so much going on cant write much about, for the first time in ages I am having genuine interest in Egyptian domestic politics.

Cairo driving
driving in cairo is horrible, no one follows an rules its like a vedio game but it can be nice too, I go like freakin 160km/h on the highway, going between the cars and all, am so cool like that, ehm yeah. and sometimes you would get some dude who wanna race you like its need for speed, I win most ones, its best when you come next to him and driving fast past and cut him of ohhhh thats good! but I never provoke anyone, and its also cool when you look at the other dude and he tryin to be some hot shot and he s a little weasel. I am super cool!

which takes us on to bodybuilding of course!

yup I havent really made that much improvements as I should, been very busy the past few months, but I guess now I am easily passing the 17 inch barrier on arms I bench press 220 pounds 8 reps on a bad day and now I can do shrugs with 400 pounds 8 reps, I tried dieting before marriage and went from 108kg to 102 in 3 weeks and I gained it all back after marriage! Cuz my wife makes the tastiest food ever, she should be a chef. haha just eating sweets all the time and all those cup cakes i had! so anyways its time for a serious cut 8 to 12 weeks need to take a break though my shoulders are cranky,

and inshaAllah my proposal for thesis is to be handed in very soon wa Allah al musta3aan.

so after long patience, and plenty of dua and waiting, I have signed out from the single men's club,

As I have imagined in my younger days of practicing how my wife would be, my wife embraced Islam at an age of 17 and is americano. She embraced it right about the same time when I started practicing, ramadan 2002, subhan Allah wa mashaAllah she left everything for Islam and faced difficultied sticking to her deen.

Things were tough and not going well - without going into details- she saw the prophet sallah Allahu 3alayhi wa sallam, and he reminded her of Allah and that the way of this deen is tough and he talked to her about difficulties he salla Allah 3alayhi wa sallam faced in spreading the message. Oh and he told her she cant take off her niqab but infront of her husband :D and in the dream it was clear that we were getting married.

Mahr (Dowary)

I thought I was naive when I was 17 when I got my first dollar, that I got as change from some money i had exchanged. I remember keeping it later on and saying this will be the maher (dowary) I give to my future wife, and thats all she would take. I always had kept it since then, since 2002 just for that special some one whom if she would have what am looking for would be very happy to take. I asked her how much mahr you want, and she was like "I dunno I dont care about that" I later told her bout my dollar haha, she was touched and she said she wanted it and nothing else, and now alhamdullelah she keeps it.

I told the sheikh who spoke in our cermony about her dream, he was trying hard to keep his tears and he joked about her being a companion of the prophet salla Allahu 3alayhi wa asalam, he gave me advice, on being nice to her, and that if I make her happy, Allah will make me happy.

"Wahhabis" of Pre-Modern Arabia

Al Jabarti- A scholar of Al-Azhar during the times of Muhammad Ali in Egypt- wrote on the Wahhabis when the Egyptian Army was sent to defeat the ikhwan movement (armed tribal forces of "wahhabi zeal" that fought the jihad to unite Arabia);

Some commanders, who were considered pious and devout told me, " How can we win when most of our soldiers belong to different confessions and some of them do not believe in anything and profess no religion? We are carrying boxes containing alcoholic drink, the azan [Muslim call to prayer] is never heard in our camp, the [Islamic] prescriptions are not fulfilled or even remembered, our people have no idea of religious rites. As for our enemies, as soon as the muezzin's call sounds, they perform ablutions and line up behind their single imam humbly and obediently. When the time for prayer comes during battle, they timidly perform the "fear prayer" [a shorter prayer] - one detachment goes forward and wages the battle while the others pray behind it. Our soldiers are astonished; they have never heard of it, not to mention seeing it. The Wahhabis shout from their camp, "Come and fight us, you pagans, you beard-shavers, who glorify libertinism and sodomy, you drunkards who have forgotten prayers, you usurers and murderers who permit yourself to forbidden deeds!"[1]

The Wahhabis were demonized by all great powers at the time, they were anti-elite in their core and did not approve the way the Hijaz (Makka Madina and Jeddah) were rueled, certinly the purfication of the Holy Cities not only from polytheism but from major sins was a motive for their conquest. Hijaz was ruled by the Sharifs (/Ashraf) whom later were to collaborate with the British and for a while rule Syria and Iraq as well asJordan whom's royal family is still in authority.

"The strict morals introduced in Mecca ran counter to its people's customs and habits. The status of the holy city made its inhabitants feel superior to all other Muslims and led them to excuse a certian lewdness of behaviour. Whole blocks of Mecca belonged to prostitutes, who even paid a tax on their occupation. Homosexuality was widespread. Alcohol was sold almost at the gate of the kaaba and drunkness was not uncommon" [2]

what is Known as Saudi Arabia today was the result of King Abdul Aziz's conquest of the Hijaz, the Wahhabis in fact have conquered it before but were also expelled by Muhammad Ali's troops that committed horrible atrocities against tribes and villages that had their allegiance to the movement and resisted. Women and children were slain and their ears were sent to Istanbul ( I read this somewhere cant remember where but it was an academic book (the ears part)).

The first conquest was repelled by a modern and more advanced army; that of Muhammad Ali of Egypt, and went far into central Arabia in al-Dariya the capitol at the time which fell.
in Cairo october 1818 a festival was held in celebration of the fall of Dariya, fireworks and public merry-making took place. The Sultan (of the Ottoman Empire) professed his "profund satisfaction".

The Emir Abdullah of Dariya, his imam and the minister were taken prisoners, sent to Cairo and then to Istanbul. I was personally told by a historian professor, that Abdullah was hung by his feet till his death and that music was played to him! (they believe Music is Haram/forbidden)

But The russian embassy reported otherwise. that the three were brought infront of the Sultan, and his ministers and heads of the empire in heavy chains. surrounded by a crowd of idlers. The Sultan orderd they be executed. Abdullah beheaded infront of the main gate of St. Sophia, Imam at the entrance of the palace and the minister at the entrance of the market. Their bodies were displayed with their heads under their arms for three days then thrown into the sea.

All insolvent debtors were released from jail, the government took the expense of their debts at
"His Majesty's" expense and money was distributed to mosques and madrasas, to "thank heaven for its mercy" [3]

Special Moments..With..

I remember... the first time I had let a few tears, being touched by something that made mereminded of Allah.. it was special.. I had very little knowledge and I didnt know what to make of it..

Yet a few months later.. I remember the first time I had let my tears down.. listning to Quran.. the first time I had ever heard those verses... I had never before then had read all the Quran nor hear it recited before me.. it was like I never heard this book in truth.

yet again... I remember the first time I had really wept being reminded of Allah, not from prayer beacuse I had wept in prayer before that. I wept being reminded of Allah and the hearafter and the duty we ought to keep to Allah.. and the pathetic things in this dunya we often prefer over Allah, and his reward and the everlasting life.

I remember we had gathered at one of the brothers house for the sake of Allah.. to listen to something that may soften our hearts and remind us of the hearafter and raise the ranks of our thurst for deen.. it was said by a brother from our university, mashaAllah spoke english well was "cool" and yet he was so pious and knowledgable, he had memorised the Quran and hadeeth and was just a recent graduate.

I dont remember anything he said now.. but we later ate and had a nice time...
on the way home, though I took a ride with 4 or 5 brothers, I was at the back seat next to the left window if my memory doesnt decive me.. and the bro driving had turned on a audio lecture.. they later started talking shortly after it was turned on ignoring whats being said, and at one point a bro was even mocking the way the sheikh said a sentance.. I had nothing to say I was deeply touched quiet and weeping as they were unaware of my doing,, I kept listning.. and the same real story that touched me is what is bellow.......

I got so much to write, I know what I should be writing its just blaah,

I need to start following politics again after semster is over! havent been doing that at all..

Gym is going great am sore at the pecs and back.. inshaAllah tommorrow some biceps and light leg work..

Im having so many intellectual ideas and what not but lately with this blog it isnt as rewarding to express them here.. this seems like its turning into my bodybuilding journal or something

yeah am 106.5 kg since quite a long time.. but my lifts have gone pretty good.. my youngest bro says I have less fat so I can see that!

I have stopped wondering what lies ahead of me.. I use to think about that a lot.. I defintaly though need a break from academia! perhaps give my muscles more space to grow lol..
and just on the whim of a thought am thinking I need to do something new with some adrinaline in it.. perhaps something with speed ?

I use to talk a lot about getting a motorbike!.. if I ever get one.. or before then inshaAllah i ll read about the mechanics and stuff.. and perhaps know how to fix some stuff up before getting anything.. i ll probably get a second hand one too.. waaay cheaper.

I still need to get certified in personal training inshaAllah!

alhamdullelah things are going awsome for me!
papers are tough and what not but am used to it I guess

aaaand alhamdullelah I feel am getting more muscular but also more fatty or at least more blaoted, I think I should reduce my caloire restriction which I have been doing and go all out, I need to take my protein intake all out haha!

I was planning to grow my hair but am already getting sick of it even though its barely over 1 cm

alhamdullelah wa mashaAllah my back is getting wider, I feel like am waking with two cushions underneath my arms my legs are getting thicker, but I need to work out my neglected calfs that I never had the time to stimulate properly!

I started doing wide grip pull ups which I havent done for ages I use to do 15 ! I did 8

I just got out my closet some jeans that I had stopped wearing coz they were too big for me, well not they are kinda tight lol!

I cant find my meter but I think my arms are a bit abover 16.5 inchs possibily 17 inshaAllah!

we keep running from reality
we'll do anything to push off the pain, often provoking our vanity
we plump our ears with objects to veil our hearts from clarity
we constantly shift our moods with screens that alter our mentality
we take long walks, eat our fill, anything to avoid those thoughts, trapped in duality

dont bother me with why am here !.. to my mind it's brutality!

go on and live your life you wont face fatality!
and live your life in full !? in all its totality !?

but know one thing for sure ! with it behold your peace!

My Poor Blog and more thoughts

Yup Ive been neglecting this thing and all blogs in general.

dieting went ok, I upped my weights, last time I benchpressed 95kg for 8 reps, I need to up it to my weight, am 106 still. So I upped the weight but downed the fat. I did 95kg 6 reps a few years ago before my shoulder injury.

Im begining to learn about steroids much more, I think I might be able to do my first cycle before the end of the year, I should expect gains inshaAllah of up to 10kg in 6 weeks.
Of course i ll pray istikhara before I buy anything. insane that this stuff is so readily available in Cairo and they sell it in pharmacies and you can get it without prescription.

subhan Allah looking at pics of myself in 2007 I though I was gettin big, but now I look I was tiny! my tshirts are getting tight! and I still feel I can pack on more muscles, my biceps suck! I need more biceps.

now I have a cold and am resting on saturday I put the AC on 17c with very little clothing. woke my throat clogged and nose blah..

been talking to some non-muslims lately about life an what not, subhan Allah at how lost they are dont know what to do, living their lives weekend by weekend, trying to milk this world for everything that its worth to them.

One of my friends (embraced Islam) his mom is a nurse in America, and in the hospital she works are very sick people some of them close to death, she would initially ask them if they would like a religious councelor/priets to come and talk to them, but many would refuse as they "dont believe in God" subhan Allah.... when they are close to death and start moaning their pain they start saying "Oh God, Oh God" and ask Him for help.

I ask Allah to make my final days close to Him, that I die and He is pleased with my actions, that I die thinking well of Allah, saying laa ilaha illa Allah.

Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit),
And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?"
And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death);

And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded)[]
The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allâh)!
So he (the disbeliever) neither believed (in this Qur'ân, in the Message of Muhammad SAW) nor prayed!
But on the contrary, he belied (this Qur'ân and the Message of Muhammad SAW) and turned away!
Then he walked in full pride to his family admiring himself!
Woe to you [O man (disbeliever)]! And then (again) woe to you!

So Im Still dieting didnt go quite as planned but am still doing it alhamdullelah
I have actually gained weight ! and lost fat and am lifting heavier. Im 107kg ! on the balance so perhaps without the cloths and shoes 106kg

I havent been checking out any blogs appart from UmmBlog. yup aka Mother of Blog.
seems am going off the radar among the previous folks who use to come here.

I still havent started any of the papers am suppose to start, I didnt do cardio today am so tierd!
am doing the maximum weight the cable rows machine has. I was quite surprised maashaAllah wa alhamdullelah that even when I was carb depleted I was lifting heavier!

I havent had any sweets for a while, doesnt seem like am going to stick exactly to it for as much as I wanted to although inshaAllah ill still try to eat clean and healthy.

am sleepy but I still need to eat aaahhhh

When you think about Marriage.

Sitting in front of the laptop trying to log on thinking of how beautiful marriage is wishing Allah may grant it to me and thinking that to myself that you even continue the life with your partner in Paradise and it was so clear to me the feeling of its presence like it was right before me, the Jannah Allah has promised to those of us whom are patient and striving for His sake, it was so clear to me … that for a glimpses of thought I was in denial this is impossible …Jannah! ? In no time I was telling myself how could I deny all these signs! I immediately followed that by saying to myself laaa illaha illa Allah (there is no god but Allah) the presence of the afterlife was right there again before myself it literally made me shiver sending a chill down my spine…

We tend to forget our final abode.

Yet its only a few steps away from us or a few breaths or a few minutes.
We are going to face it NO MATTER WHAT no matter when.

Ya Allah grant us the entrance of Jannah and forbid our skins from coming near the Hell Fire,
You are The Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

So The Mass is Dieting

salaam aleykum
yup spring kicked in and am dieting
although I feel like my muscles are actually fuller and am generally pumped but thats after eating

today I did a highintensity shoulder/trap triceps work out I wasnt taking many rests I even went heaier than last time on traps sporting a 110kg (which I initially thought was 120) on traps 12 reps or was it 8 i forget. I couldnt press as last time but i guess I didnt warm out propely.
I then hopped on the ecliptic cardio machine and did 45 minutes, then some ab work which i almost never do.

I am on a 1.5 gram per pound diet and I initially decided 1gram of carbs for each pound but it seemed like a hell lot given that am carb sensitive and I feel full already at 0.65 I think I might keep it like that am suppose to be doing around 30% of my calories from healthy fats but I dunno how to measure that give that what I eat has some fat already, the fat is essential for hormones and other stuff I suppose.

so im eating 8 meals a day (or I am suppose to) I should be eating two more but I didnt get my sleep right so I am going to skip some protein today unfortunatly I have no whey powder.

my plan was to hit the weights 4 days a week do cardio everyday including after the weights and do 3 times a night 30 minutes cardio.. i think i might do cardio at night everyday. or at least more than 3 if i feel like it
am resting on fridays.

eating like that is waaay time consuming. thats why am doing it in the break I guess inshaAllah am going to start working my butt off seriously with my papers som maybe I can extend my diet beyond the two weeks.. if thats so am going to HAVE TO eat during my classes.. I wonder how my professors will take that.

yes I should also add that my only source of carbs so far is oats,, am not eating any suger or sweets if I loose 4 kg in that week i ll be happy but am expecting at least inshaAllah 2!

am thinking I ll break my diet with a double cheese burger from spectra and a tripple stuffing cheese cake from Benos!

Finally I should say something. Alhamdullelah semster going well, seems like there will be a slight change in plans summer school and my thesis proposal is going to be delayed a bit.

ive been working out pretty good I have reached new weights on my lifts praise be to Allah!
mostly my shoulders have improved alhamdullelah am getting wide!

a day I was going out with the bros, and bad me didnt do the laundry so I wore one of em tight white Hanes(just covers shoulders) shirt which i havent put on in public since summer 07 I mean talk about people staring :P alhamdullelah wa mashaAllah i think i grew pretty well :P
one of the bros insisted that i was on juice, aka roids aka gym candy that is in common language steroids.. no am not :P

So I went and got some supplements for a 2 week diet inshaAllah since we getting spring break soon! on my way there was this dude a cab driver who's car stopped in the middle of a slope upwards! and this dude was trying to push it. so I was like Alhamdullelah! finally a Chance to use Allah's blessings on me (muscles) for something good so enthusiastically I got behind the car and started pushing it against the slope!

yeah so I think i ll diet inshaAllah for 2 weeks see how that goes got to ask the sheik of Muscles bro Don for some tips, will do that soon inshaAllah.

One day while we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) there appeared before us a man whose clothes were exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black; no signs of journey were to be seen on him and none of us knew him. He walked up and sat down in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), with his knees touching against the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and placing the palms of his hands on his thighs he said,

“O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.”

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Islam is to testify that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to perform prayers, to give zakat, to fast in Ramadhan, and to make the pilgrimage to the House if you are able to do so.” He said, “You have spoken rightly”; and we were amazed at him asking him and saying that he had spoken rightly.

He [the man] then said, “Tell me about iman.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “It is to believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in divine destiny (qadr), both the good and the evil of it.” He said, “You have spoken rightly.”

He [the man] said, “Then tell me about ihsan.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “It is to worship Allah as though you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then (knowing that) truly He sees you.”

He said, “Then tell me about the Hour.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “The one questioned about it knows no better than the questioner.”

He said, “Then tell me about its signs.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress, and that you will see barefooted, naked destitute shepherds
competing in constructing lofty buildings.”

Then he [the man] left, and I stayed for a time. Then he [the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)] said, “O Umar, do you know who the questioner was?” I said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “It was Jibreel, who came to teach you your religion.”

Praise be to Allah Lord of all beings.

Often we do take many things for granted, that we have just gotten used to being around us or of our belongings. We only appreciate something when it is lost or when we see others whom don’t have it, got stripped away from or struggling to attain it or something of its nature.

Yet there are those whom Allah bestows his mercy upon and opens their chests to the great deen of Islam. And with the renewal of their lives they renew our worn out faiths and raise our eman in ranks.

أَوَمَنْ كَانَ مَيْتًا فَأَحْيَيْنَاهُ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُ نُورًا يَمْشِي بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ كَمَنْ مَثَلُهُ فِي الظُّلُمَاتِ لَيْسَ بِخَارِجٍ مِنْهَا كَذَلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

Is he who was dead, to whom We gave life, and a Light whereby he can walk amongst men, be like him who is in the depths of darkness, from which he can never come out? Thus it is made fair-seeming to the disbelivers that which they used to do.

Is There a "Middle East" ?

We are starting to hear of things like a “Middle Eastern” cuisine, people from the “Middle East” a “Middle Easterner” “Middle Eastern Societies” Middle East this Middle East That.
So what is the Middle East ?

Apparently there is not a consensus among social scientists on what does constitute the Middle East Some include Afghanistan in it other don’t. and we also have heard of “the Greater Middle East” initiative by George Bush which is a big farce just as its name.
Obviously The “Middle East” is supposed to be chunk of land and all what’s in it. Yet this is not a term coined by the inhabitants of those lands nor was it out of the academic and intellectual traditions of its people. It is an occidental term imposed on the region with its contexts and implicit interests.

Regardless of how conscious or unconscious the term is used it serves several functions
1- to imply that Israel is a natural member of this geographical location
2- to imply similarities between all these states that are not shared elsewhere.
3- it strips the region from its identity, Namely Islamic. And thus the term intrinsically fragments the Islamic world.
4- it Dissolves differences between Arab and non Arab states thus inherently down playing the distinction.

It Is Ironic that when we say the West we also imply Australia and New Zealand but also not Mexico (which is technically in the west). so the West is actually an identity not just a relative geographic location but when we say the Middle East?….. Nothing is implied but a geographical location (Arab states Plus Turkey Israel and Iran). This is at least the proposition in social sciences and namely Political Science with all of its branches.

The Term finds itself in the inherit difference in power relations. The West is in dominance and so it chooses the way in which it wants to coin the world around it and address peoples the way it wants to address them the way it wants to view them, in the way it wants them to view themselves. The term finds its way through academic imperialism which then finds its way in westernized and conforming academic institutions in the region. And that is why before the Gulf War ( Final Blow to Arab Nationalism) we never heard of Arabs saying the “Middle East” (ash-Sharq al Awsat). Similarly you don’t hear the term being used on Alajazeera ( more Arabist/Islam sympathetic) or perhaps rarely, unlike Alarabiyah (secular fundamentalists/ “liberalists”/westernized) which uses it frequently.

In other words
THERE IS NO MIDDLE EAST !

Islam Methodology

As I get into debates regarding politics and issues that branch off Islamic realms on what is or what isn’t part of Islam and regarding ways of governance in Islam I tend to cross lines with a some folks in classes or social gatherings ( or sometimes blogs) that are highly opinionated about Islam and politics and how an Islamic state should be yet their basic understanding of what is Islam and how to derive belief is a complete mess. Yet they don’t even take a step back and evaluate how they come to these conclusions.

When is confronted by Muslim “Liberalists” who are conscious of that its easy tends to be easy to obliterate their arguments so long as they stick to the debate. How should we understand Islam as Muslimeen regardless of politics, its simple.

Quran and Sunnah as it was taught by the prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him to his companions. Some people out there come and tell us that maybe we should reinterpret the Quran or that the way one understands it is a personal thing between them and God. No Quran was revealed the Prophet (PBUH) with an intended message, that has implications on beliefs and actions. The best people who understood this are the companions of the prophet PBUH they were there with him in all his actions ( including his wives may Allah be pleased with them) and thus Allah in the Quran in numerous verses praises the companions and their understanding of Islam. And the prophet Muhammad PBUH commands us to follow his way and the ways of his companions. They are the ones that not only transmitted the Quran to us and the Prophetic traditions but also their understandings, objectives and intentions.

فَإِنْ آمَنُوا بِمِثْلِ مَا آمَنْتُمْ بِهِ فَقَدِ اهْتَدَوْا وَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَإِنَّمَا هُمْ فِي شِقَاقٍ فَسَيَكْفِيكَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

So if they believe as ye believe, they are indeed on the right path; but if they turn back, it is they who are in schism; but Allah will suffice thee as against them, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. [137:2]

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُمْ مَوْعِظَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَشِفَاءٌ لِمَا فِي الصُّدُورِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ

قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذَلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ

O mankind! there hath come to you a direction from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts, and for those who believe, a Guidance and a Mercy.
Say: "In the Bounty of Allah. And in His Mercy, in that let them rejoice": that is better than the (wealth) they hoard. [57-58:10]

Alhamdullelah things going well on my side,

I think i ll either stick to a one week post/ commenting on blogs day or either just cut myself off like i did last semster, its still the begining and things arent as tight, YET.

as I was roaming around as I do every once in a while I found some interesting blogs. I found a BrO! mashaAllah reverted in June and is a bodybuilder himself and has competed, He s My Muscle Sheikh now :P He knows many of the Big Pros and chilled with them, some of his closest friends are HUUGE and he promised he ll give me a VIP tour with the pros inshaAllah if I get accepted for a PhD in the U.S. He s the only Muslim I met so far who knows more than me about bodybuilding :P well he knows a lot about the "forbidden Zone" that I know nothing about so which I have been trying to know about as you may know from previous posts.

Alas, behold For Thy Mass Shall Grow to New Weights :P

I also found another interesting blog with quite an academic indulgence, A venue I can get all potmodern in bust my anti-orientalism style arguments. Among "mainstream" Middle Eastern studies academics and those whom approach it as a case study you gotta luv Edward Said.

I like to get into debates in such issues, mashaAllah wal hamdullelah no bragging I think I can stand well to my ideas and can strongly support them. Im very outspoken in seminars and classes. But I ve been keeping a low profile for the most part, its not a free country after all and several bloggers have been arrested and detained for speaking their minds.

I lost weight!
1 kg actually am 106kg now.
I think i lost more fat and gained more muscle, even though i havent been lifting heavier. my legs are more defined and so as my arms and back
am 16.5 inchs in arms. am hoping i ll be 17 the least by the end of summer.

I always tell the bros to work out alhamdullelah, so far I got less than a hand full to seriously start and have made descent gains. I hate it and it stabs me in the heart when I see a skinny bearded bro walking slightly tilting forward and lowering his gaze.. Bros need to push ther chests out straighten their backs and lower their gaze. Have Pride in your deen and forget about this self pitying portrayal of the self of being a stranger in the dunya and implicitly implied weakness.
This Stranger in the Dunya mentality that some sheioukh have been propagating for a while a few years back along with some of the anasheed have been very socialy destructive to the those who practice and make bros and sisters socially isolated and inactive, and if I want talk about politcs here then forget it its beyond our relam.

I use to work out in this gym we had a bro mashaAllah at least 6' 3 with 22 inch arms the least, massive cannon ball delts, huge low lat back and pecs with a Big Beard. mashaAllah looks awsome and strong! yet he was so humble as most of the other big dudes i know.

so to all the bros who read this, start getting strong and Big and look the haters in the eye.

Arabian Gulf, Home or no Home ? Globalization Par Excellence

So you’ve been born in an Arab gulf country but yr not a “local” or “citizen” Yr Arab or say from the Indian Sub Continent you are basically confused about your identity about your belonging you can either pin point home as where you were born and raised or you can point it out to where your parents were born and you occasionally go every summer to visit relatives among other things.

Yup You may have been to Arab schools in the countries of the Arab Gulf or lets say Indian or Pakistani schools chances are you are much easier to re-integrate back into your “original” society and you have a much easir time saying am fully Egyptian, Indian or Pakistani and people don’t find you that much different or odd or guess yr not really a local of your parents origin.
It gets more complicated if you have been studying in what so called is “international schools” which are actually most likely either American or British schools with the same curriculum Americans and Brits study in their countries. You use to listen to American or British music or both watch their movies not only speak their language but also with the same accent that’s if you were to walk in a grocery store in there the cashier wont think twice you were born in there or least brought up from childhood there. Those folks tend to be the ones more open to other cultures and more likely to have been hanging out in school with a more culturally diverse group with in school.

Other teenagers who tend to relate more with where their parents come from and perhaps don’t have that perfect westen accent and tend to have hung out n groups with people of their nationality say the Egyptian group or the Indian folks or the Pakistani lot, then they are more likely to have it easier when they get back “home”.

Its tough since you were born in the Arabian Gulf it becomes even tougher if you can speak the dialect perfectly well and on the street people would think yr a “local” or “citizen” at least that’s from my experience which partly because my khaleeji (Gulfi) like complexion. Its way tougher when you say Home is in that khaleej country but you have no rights there once yr pops retires you can never go back unless on a contract or perhaps as a tourist but unlikely since the passport owners of the countries I have mentioned have different arrangements.

Im not saying that countries of the Arab Gulf should just give citizenship to folks like us that’s would mess things up, the social political and economic characteristics of these countries. Am Just trying to show this emotional and if you may humanitarian dilemma that am partly caught in and am sure many others are caught in it like myself. Sad reality is our parents in the eyes of these governments (as a whole or as a system or in a purely technocratic vision) are only here to serve a function for material return and once yr contract is done or time to retire your function no longer exists and so you too ought to seize exiting on their lands.

And even worse the those who grew up there their entire lives who are also looked at differently in their “home countries” whom could be pretty much culturally confused or least if they are conscious of it. Then you are torn apart where am I from ? Where is Home? Ironic its probably easy for those who lived in such contexts to settle some where in the English speaking west.

And on a side note Even much more pathetic when say to Egypt your parents have been paying “Taxes” or remittances to the government ( one of Egypt’s top sources of income along with tourism and the Suez Canal) and then when you come back yr expected to sever in the military .. As “paying back your country.” when I havent been using any of their crappy pathetic worthless government provided services and my parents paying their corrupt behinds.

Perhaps this is Just my own experience and am trying to be all generalizing about it, at least am pretty sure it is absolutely the case with Arab folks as much more is culturally common with folks of the khaleej. Alhamdullelah my parrents still work Home or if you want to critically call it my “home”

I think this could open up major issues of research for specialists and students of the social sciences but this is mostly my thoughts with a twist of ranting.

been meeting a lot of important people who know very important people whom basically run the world. the things you hear about "them" folks "up there" is that "they" have very personalized lives, like duh dont we all?

they hold like grudges on each other and shift from a postion to its anti radical just for their personal careers. e,g hilary clinton after 1998 from being pro palestine to being a hardcore zionist. Politics can really suck when you need funding and you play elections to win and you cant do whats right.. yes it can be reaallllly dirty.

what if like queen so and so I meet her and she attempts to shake my hand and I refuse.. there goes my funding ? or there goes my head off? hate to think about it in any other, but what if she asks for more ? am not exactly Yusuf alayhi as-salaam but alhamdullelah :P. subhan Allah he said that prison is more beloved to him than obeying the First lady of Egypt at the time. buuuuut alahmdulellah am no slave and am for political gains so maybe I should do it for the ummah :P ok ok am kidding and its disgusting but thats just a thought. a scary one.

Yup, this post probably will be the last in a while but also perhaps not.
Masters is coming close to an end alhamdullelah thesis is also coming up closer.
Alhamullelah am all enthusiastic about it. readings are ridiculously a lot. Shoulnt be a problem inshaAllah.

Gym is ok, busted my back oing heavy squats after a lay off, but alhamdullelah even after resting it seems i have kept the muscle and lost some fat.

been rejecting a lot of hand shakes from women lately. its somewhat becoming annoying that I have to do that. I have also been rejecting invitations to many parties and what not. I guess if yr a Muslim who doesnt drink but also doesnt hang around such places it looks weird as other muslim students go to these places.

In the masters program I am basically a minority no one shares my ideas, very few have common religious convictions and very few practice in fact I can only think of two sisters. alhamdullelah am still sticking to my guns. sometimes I would feel like blah whatever I should "relax" ( or shaytan whispers) more but its simply not who I am, My political ideas are based on morals and so as my way of life inshaAllah. If i quit one am quitting the other which inshaAllah will never do and cant do.

increasingly more than before there have been more reverts to Islam coming, bunch of sisters in hijab one bro in a beard, I also heard two bros took shahada last semster.

Today I had an argument with a work mate of a friend of mine, works in some NGO. it was about Islam, he himself liked Islam and seemed to know a little. He was so arrogant and talked trash with a loud voice as I patiently listened to him and logically attempted to debate him. He couldnt define anything he talked about and his convictions were no more based on mere impressions and sterotypes. In the end I told him whatever man I dont care what you think. I am not going to clinge on every debate I get into it, If you dont wanna see it then dont. He got more pissed off. I stood up and he was like, what ? I didnt realise you were so tall ( and Im telling myself and Big :P) so some girl sitting in the group was like so be quiet and behave LOL :P we later shooke hands as that girl suggested.

oh well at least as masters approaches an end so as a new era of wife search comes close:P ( and perhaps fresh muscle growth)

I weighed myself today 107kg :S. I look thinner but am actually heavier, i guess i have shed more fat and put on more muscle. my pants are still generally tight, I have started running feels awsome, it compromises my pump, thickness and bulky built look but I guess its more healthy to run than keep on the anaerobic routine.

yup I am going to check out a Judo class on friday, just met the coatch I will be the heaviest dude in the game, surely not the strongest though.

Shoold be hearing from my Japanese classes tommorrow inshaAllah. to set the time.
Japanese and Judo ! now I need a Japanese niqabi/ninja wife and i ll be set for life.

I have become more consiously aware that i am smart. I easily learn things. alhamdullelah I think if I ever go well with Japanese my next hit will be Spanish.

Gaza, Sacrifice for Mobilization

There are no words sufficient to describe the situation in Gaza and there are no words sufficient to describe the ? Organized gang of “Israel” that has broken all human norms. Those neo-Fascists is what is wrong with the world. There can never be peace with such people, they simply leach on their “religion” (or a several specific interpretations of it) for their own existence.

Yet from such trauma bleeding the Ummah there are several positive signs that are wholistic but could be indicated.

Some people say that the protests were useless but without them I assure you Arab governments already minimal and cowardly response would have been very dim.

I am also quite surprised at the way the Saudi religious establishment “The Ulema” have responded to this. The Least the could have done was issue a fatwa for Jihad. Over the years their role has become so self undermined that they have become beyond pathetic when it comes to political roles. Saudi Ulema can still play a major role in the advancement of the Ummah but unfortunately this is not the case.

Arab peoples have become so politically tamed that even our demands have become so weak. Humanitarian aid is vital but this is not what Gaza Needs. Palestine needs troops to force Israel back to the 1967 boarders and to force it to accept “peace”. Even at times of peace settlements have expanded this year alone at 5% in “West Bank” they literally kick people out of their homes and live in them.

1- The situation in Gaza has moved the Arab and Islamic world as well as the wider globe.
We need to have a stronger presence in places where they sympathize with us, Venezuela, Norway and South Korea.
2- Islamic TV channels are no longer only involved exclusively in social issues but have dramatically shifted to an explicit political discourse, be reminded that a few years ago they did not even exist.
3- The Arab governments can longer rely on the west to act, as they do not fulfill the expectations of the angry streets forcing governments to act. They are undergoing a test now. So far are failing which gives them a lesser chance of survival. Social (namely Egypt) forces are stronger than ever.
4-Egypt is currently being marginalized by its traditional partners which is obviously why it is position is artificially being boosted by the U.S. in the security council. Turkey is somewhat getting involved which is good and if its governments remains with the same tendencies. I suspect they will have a bigger role in the future Turkey is already doing a good job penetrating the Arab world economically.

Oh Boy.
Yes finally, although I thought I might not come back at all, my friend AA urged me to write something "even if once a month"( he promised to open up his own soon inshaAllah. Am grateful to all the folks who stayed in touch here and there by email.

The semester I just finished was the toughest one I ever had. Insane, but may have been the most useful I ever had too, I have slightly modified my world view curbing down a bit on my postmodern tendencies. Masters is a big jump from undergrad, am glad i just cut off the blogging, there was hardly any time. If I wasn’t reading, I was writing something, and if I wasn’t writing nor reading I was doing research, in a 14 week semester I had 11 papers to write. If i wasn’t doing any of those i was in the gym, although the last month and a half was hardly in the gym and I lost a lot of weight, only to pack it on it 2 weeks, still working on it.

For me Eid was at home, writing papers. I didn't leave the house nor visit my relatives amid all the assignments I had to do.

I have a lot of new developed ideas, I no longer think small, I think grand, perhaps I ll share some of it with you folks.

there are also plenty of major developments in world politics, that will change how "things" are run.

ya Allah.. ya raheem, its Ramadan alhamdullelah, yet unfortunatly i havent made well of it yet. inshaAllah will do.
university started again.. am so freaked out, i havent felt like this since i was in like primary school, like my parrents were about to find out something horrible i did in school. am always super confident this is like weird for me.

my first 2 days of ramadan were a killer, since i usually eat 6 meals i was like too hungry to sleep, im am hungry i simply cant sleep so after fajr was tough to sleep, and at night am eating every 3 hours which is exactly 4 times, and i have to keep waking up in the middle of the night to eat i wake at 12 to eat and also at 3 for suhoor.

i havent been blogging for a while, been upset, "emotional issues" despite being no other involved, i dont like complaining so i just didnt blog since i wouldve been sending very negative vibes. anyways now i dont have time to have "emotional issues" I ve got SO MUCH WORK TO DO... its crazy. and i am getting worried about my thesis, i might have to travel for some research, see how that goes inshaAllah...

i joined a close gym within walking distance, for ramadan, i think i ll stick to it the entire year, i got no time! i have to work out, its like salat for me now, or i just become sluggish, i decided inshaAllah by decembre i want to be around 95kg now am 105.5 i lost 1.5 kg since ramdan started. so i got no time bu to diet work out and study.. i might give up the strict dieting if i feel its too much for me and affecting my studies. it would be easy going down to 100 or even 99/98 but lower than that becomes tough as there is much less fat to get rid of.

it will be inshaAllah nothing but studying, salat working out and eating+ sleeping. nothing else.

Alhamdullelah I love helping out folks in the gym giving them tips, adjusting the way their doing sets etc. Im more keen on folks more than their trainers that they get sometimes, who dont know shizzle or simply dont care.

This little kid came and stood beside me, as I was doing a set of cable rows, his EYES WIDE OPEN,, and saying "yanhar eswed" ( ya Black morning) sort of like OMG, and i am done as I wipe sweat of my forehead dripping a few over the bench, he s like show me your muscles,, so I laugh it off,, hes like show me your muscles .. so I bounce my pecs,, hes like waaaawww..lol ,, then hes like do like this (and he flexes his biceps) am like noooo,, bass.. he s like i what should i do here in the gym? .. am like how old are ya ? he said 12.. and i want to become tall and slim..am like drink milk and eat eggs lol.. hes like huh.. no nooo seriously.. am like yeah do that.. i do that too you know!.. hes like what do i do here ? am like nothing, go do swimming or football.. yr still young to bodybuild.. he wasnt satisfyied. i told him when r 16 come here and start.

then he feels my shoulder and says yanhar eswed again.. i tell him say mashaAllah! LOL,

which makes me wonder now.. why on earth a 12 year old wants to be tall and slim!?
when i was 12 what did I want ? I cant remember.

people usually think big guys are like nasty, when thats not the case, the biggest dude in our gym is like one of the kindest folks ever ! his arm is probably 22 inchs ,, thats like bigger than your thigh probably!

there were to girls 16 or 17 year olds makin fun of me as i was doing standing calf raises as i was growling. not to mention that the weight i had on was the heaviest the machine can sport. saying whats going on,, and teeeeeeeehehehe. I dont shout out like all of the gym can hear me but i i produce some scary noise on my heaviest sets, sort of like bruce Lee going WAAAAAAAKAAA and WOOOGGGGOOO, its to release energy, it helps!

A lil Bit of Stuff

I weighted my Self and I was Hovering Just a lil bit over 106kg thats about 233pounds MashaAllah! thats a pretty long way I have taken.... everyone in the gym tells me i got bigger. inshaAllah im gonna change the gym soon! alhamdullelah am starting to surpass my peers.

Ive actually gotten quite big that am not used to myself, and i dont feel compelled to eat when am hungry, but thats when am a bad boy I need to eat to keep it up!

Ramadan is coming up inshaAllah i slim down to 100 or so, but fat loss only inshaAllah !

I really dont know what to say, all i think about is bodybuilding and politics. I shaved my head like SHAVED it and i look scary and intimidating and currently am sporting a big goatee not HUge but big, if you know me from my old blog i had a HUGE beard, but you know get issues with "THEM".

inshaAllah my parents will be coming after ramadan for eid. they see me like every few months or so which i get to pack on some pounds of muscle and ok FAT too!, last time my dad was pretty impressed and was all go for it and what not.

I am ordering inshaAllah Anthony Robert's Steroid guide. The Punked bookstore didnt reply yet to my order,, i guess i ll bug them for it again.

This BodyBuilding Thing has helped me a lot overcome my emotional issues.
You really have to block it out and be cold about anything that bothers you otherwise you cant lift your max,, thats even if you feel you can drag yourself to the gym if you really upset.

I try not to talk about them here even though sometimes i do vent it out, you may think am all muscles and eat and politics and world order but deep down inside am just a soft tender guy.

Cold War Again ?

I was watching the news yesterday, getting all excited about a major shift in international affairs.

three significant developments occurred over the past few days

1- Poland and the U.S sign a military deal where the U.S is to place anti-missile shields (missiles) supposedly to protect Poland from any threat of long/medium range missiles, obviously this is directed at deterring Russia, or balancing it off but Condalica Rice (minister of International Relations) referred to it as protecting Poland from Iran( obviously Iran and Poland dont have any pressing issues of dispute).

2- More tensions arise between NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and Russia, NATO freezes all normal relations with Russia. Yup that’s more beef with Russia.

3- “President” of Syria Bashar al Asad goes to Moscow ! Denouncing the U.S’s back up to Georgia and its oppression to the world, he paves the way for military deals and co-operation including buying advanced aircraft fighters and allowing Russian Warships in Syrian ports in return of Russia dropping the money it is owed by Syria..

All of this was triggered over the situation in Georgia, where Russia felt its interest in the Caucuses was being undermined so it had to make the move to keep its strategic dominance over the area. Georgia of course is a U.S Ally now.

The U.S still feels or least treats Russia as if it was in the 90s when the U.S.S.R collapsed and Russia has become significantly weak stripping away its global power. Obviously Russia is way stronger now, (along with China and also India!).

The U.S since 9-11 has been occupied with this “War on Terror” a complete bogus term that doesn’t mean anything and has launched a war that among many things show bigotry and hatred towards Arabs and Muslims rather than being based on sound strategic judgment, it wasn’t so long till the U.S made use of 9 11 and launched a war on Iraq using its pretexts as a support. The U.S was serving Israeli interests in the Middle East over its own, ( as Mershimer and Waltz have pointed out before)

In the mean time Russia, China and India have significantly improved their economies, Of course Russia and then China are much more immanent threats to U.S Global dominance, I wrote a post before (Heading Towards a Mulit Polar World) like everyone else predicating the global situation, I never expected thought it would be that soon and blatant .

Its too early to decide how this will affect Muslim Countries with Military dictatorships suffocating their people, but I guess it gives more room for political opposition to act under the blind spot of America being concerned with more alerting issues.

Setting the New Pace

ahhh Yup Need to sit with myself see how bodybuilding is going, else I leave it unplanned and dont make the most of my years ahead inshaAllah.

My wrist is not 100% ok, but i can manage around it,, I think it might keep hurting a bit for a while like my left shoulder a bit more than a year ago... Ramadan is coming and am excited about taraweeh mostly.. Fasting itself is a killer for me since i eat like every 2 and a half/3 to 3 and a half hours. SO i get to really shrink in Ramadan,, last Ramadan was better than the one before.. I think LAst ramadan what triggered a mess up was having to visit some family friends and have iftar with them.. it was af it was taboo not going, and i didnt want to as there was a bit of mixing and all, I left early anyway.

of course if i dont eat properly on one day you cant make it up the other,, and in ramadan i eat in a very rigid strict manner of food choice,, I dont eat meat period on iftar only rice or pasta with chicken or fish.. meat can come later in the day and suhoor EGGS is a must... and I work out always after taraweeh.

From Info I learned about nutrition, Potassium is important for hydration, so in ramadan make sure you get plenty of it, milk is good for that and so as dates, so subhan Allah when its sunnah to break fast with things that speed up hydration.. faster than water alone. Bananas too have potassium, (eat with oats milk, cinnamon for suhoor along eggs for protein)

So...I will do the following training split.

Chest+ Biceps+ forearms,
Thighs+ Calfs + (Cardio + abs + Gluetts)
rest
Shoulders + triceps + Traps
rest
Back + Calfs + forearms + (Cardio + abs + Gluetts) (depending on how i feel i might skip cardio or do less time of it)
rest
start cycle again.

Warm up plus stretch and also more intensive stretching on rest days,, inshaAllah no less than 10 reps on the weights on my heaviest sets to give my joints a break.

need to add a few inches to my arms and calfs inshaAllah..

ahhh mayyn, I just orderd some fast food, Hardees! Use to eat sometimes in Kuwait, Me and me Best Pal Mish after a wild jaming session of blasted amplifiers with heavy distortion from cool pedals and stuff running around headbanging with low strapped guitars we would order some food and watch tv lol...
some days it was fatayer others some junk food, sometimes pizza duuude awsome days.

that was like every wednesday , Id go to his place or he comes over, we eat and jammmmmm then go out "GIZZ" just look good and walk around, and occasionaly bump into some cute chickz, we d also go to this muscial shop "Wataniya" in Salmiya highstreet, and rock on the guitar there,, and get a crowd around us, and all the younger teens beg their parrents to buy em a guitar lol.. and the parrents say its coz we play good not coz the guitar is awsome :P.. I remember this Philipino dude who worked there William, he would be happy to show us tunes and cliffs but once we got really good (actually better than him) to the point of grapping attention away from him he gets pissed off and like claims the guitar is busted or the amplifier is I dunno what ... we also one day met some dudes who were like shocked that we didnt know them lol, some Bahraini brothers who who had a khaleeji band. me and mish thought they were a bit loose in the head.

me and mish would usually start off togther then we d meet other folks,, oh yeah Sheeha lol :S
Sheesha was a big thing among us, but me and mish later on stopped coz its bad for us. on one time we had this African American friend of ours who insisted on smoking it after it was done so he was just smoking the coal, and you know sterotyoing African Americans :P he was somking it as if it was weed with the facial jestures and all ..later on he tripped whle crossing the road and i had to grab before a car was about to run over him lol

I remember two girls (Divas) from school coming out of fanar, just around the corner we stopped and we talked for a bit and then they walked away with about 50 geezies stalking them and giving us looks of ackonwledgment.
Stalking is a big part of teen culture in kuwait.. iguess folsk grow up to do nastier stuff.. alhamdullelah i never went that far!..

I rememberrrr! the night of our first performance we were so anxsious and nervous, but with the first cords the girls were screaming the top of their lungs off everyone went crazy so did the parrents (it was winter concert and formal but we were the only rock band, and we had to sit down and wear formal! it was Master of Puppets by Metallica)) so being the only rock band we were pretty much the main event :P ohh yeahh it was sooo awsome me and mish were like flying after the concert was done girls started pouring at us telling us how we were amazing and stuff lol :P

I remember we went to a resturant and this dude our friend made us run after we payed and wrote the comments in this card thing abou the service... he was like I wrote **** **** on it (cussing his mother) we were like YOU IDIOT.. the punk forgot the DVD he bought there.. wo he sneaked inside and got it,, and this syrian chef dude ran after him lool..

I remember we d crack up to Dave Chappelle, Ali G and some of the nonsense clips you can downlaod on Kazza and Napster... we worked out the same gym for a while, we camped too,, I still have a rock with me from those camping days..

me and Mish havent met up in like 3 years,, inshAAllah we meet up in decembre :D. its like I can call him up anytime or mail him and its like we still crack up jokes.. we miss each other like we havent talked in ages.. but we dont behave like it

More Arab Diplomatic Initiatives

As I have pointed out in a previous (post) its seems there are more initiavtes in the same direction, now there are talks between the Syrian and Lebanese president after a few years of diplomatic tensions. Also more recently the Jordanian Government holds talks with Hamas officials! After a cut off and heavy tensions for 9 years!

Keep in mind that this is for regional strategic reasons not coz King Husain suddenly had a “change of heart” in the Israeli coming elections and what it yeilds may mess up the situation in West Bank which would bring turmoil in Jordan. However this will also ease tentions with the Muslim Brotherhood of Jordan and the Islamist Social movment at large with th Jordanian government.

Anyway it seems interesting.. Jordan is trying to step up.. Now Egypt looks like a dork since they havent been able to bring all Palestinian factions and Israel to concrete deals.. Whatever Happens in Egypt in the next decade or is going to be a major propellant of what the Middle East will look like vis-à-vis Israel.

The U.S is too busy with Iraq that its “Allies” are more free to do what they want,, and more recently the Fiasco of Georgia is worrying them and dragging them into Cold War Politics.. Georgia ia a U.S Ally and currently Russian troops are only 40km away from Tbilisi the Georgia Capital..

BAD ME, i kept awake for longer that I should, way longer.

ahh too man to mention.

am sleepy I should hit the sack. i worked out today (or yesterday) after about 3 weeks layoff. i rested my wrist coz it got busted. then on the day i was suppose to hit the weights i got as cold! i lost weight fat and muscle.. but am quite surprised i still barely have a good measurment of my arms, even though i havent pumped em out yet..alhamdullelah..

ahh daayyyuunnngg maaynn i have like a lil wee less than a year and a half to finish off masters inshaAllah.
then inshaAllah PHD if everythng goes smooth.. I wonder how will I get married in all this! not to mention keep my muscles growing !

all I can say.. Allah al musta3aaaan, and whom ever has tawakul on Allah He is sufficient for him.

New Arab Diplomacy and G.C.C Political Autonomy

I read this PAPER by Marina Ottaway, pretty interesting, it jotted down many of my thoughts which appeared to me like a pattern but I didn’t think much about its significance I certainly knew that the U.S is being isolated and lost a lot of its soft power in the region. The U.S can a no longer manipulate the current regimes to do whatever it demands. There is some autonomy however that minimal autonomy is never used against high profile American interests.

From some of the themes in the Article; Leadership in the Middle East is shifting east away from Egypt (and Syria) towards the G.C.C (Gulf Cooperating Council) namely more towards Saudi and Qatar and to a lesser extent U.A.E and Kuwait.

However all of the efforts of G.C.C policies and initiatives are not planned or institutionalized, they are largely the efforts of individuals of the ruling royal families. These efforts are mostly pragmatic and against U.S Hawkish hardline policies of demoralizing, alienating and isolating its adversaries in the region. Namely Iran, Hezbolla and Hamas. These adversaries however all have direct links with Arab regimes.

King Abdullah of Saudi has always tried on many occasions to have Hamas and PA/Fatah (Palestinian Authority) to Negotiate Also the Same has been done by Egypt, and Egypt has made several broked Deals between Israel and Hamas. Also King Abdullah like all the other Emirs met with Ahmedi Nejad and proclaim that Iran is their neighbor not an enemy, they basically did not give any official positive to America’s desire for a Strike on Iran.

Yet Egypt is only forced to deal with the situation because of its borders with Gaza., which were broken causing security issues in Egypt. Otherwise Egypt and Jordan are basically enslaved to American monetary aid and also Egypt more specially has isolated itself from the Regional arena and went inwards to address problems over succession in the presidency.

Qatar has Brokered a Deal between all the factions in Lebanon saving the country off a political catastrophe and what could have been as later showed a civil war. Despite the U.S putting a grim face towards the talks, Hezbolla representatives, were on the negotiating tables in Qatar. Hezbolla is obviously a winner in all this (not mentioned in the paper) but if one pays close attention to the new constitution Hezvollah could be interpreted as having the same credentials as the Lebanese Army where the “Muqawama“ (Resistance aka Hezbollah) and the Lebeanse army have the right to free Lebanon from occupiers (aka Israel) . And a victory for Hezbolla is also a victory for Iran. Not to mention the situation in Iraq I will address this issue later in another post inshaAllah..

All of these many issues among others, are marking somewhat an autonomy of regional policy of the major Arab Regime players and more specifically the G.C.C states. The G.C.C no longer relies on the U.S to buy its oil and now there are other buyers who are equally thirst for oil. Also the Policies of America are just incosiderate and simply contribute to anything but stability.

One Could also draw from Clement M. Henry and Robert Springborg’s Book “ Globalization and the Politics of Development in the Middle East” Which he classifies the G.C.C (and Morocco Which I don’t agree qualifies in their choice) as “Globalizing monarchies” and are the most likely to advance and respond to challenges of globalization in the Middle East.

How To Give YourSelf an Injection

Ok inshaAllah you never have to but incase you do and yr pretty sick and like cant drag yourself to a hospital clinic or phramcy or whatever... OR yr doing steroids and you dont want folks to find out you been juicing up :P

not that I ever used steroids.. but i certianly am going to consider.. but i need to read more about it!

ok to give your self an injection aka. intramuscular in the buttox..

get an alchol tissue thing or swap if i recall correctly.... wipe the area you will stick the pin at..

that area... you divde your butt cheek into 4 parts (not with a knife of course, but in your head) as if you have drawing a cross over your butt cheeck that separates them equally.. now what you want is the outer upper corner

aka away from the butt line so any of the two outter corners thats your target.

its better tha you use a mirror in the process for maneuvering.

make sure that the injection does not have any air in it,, so when you fill it in you want to make sure there are no bubbles and that you have ejected some of the liquid out....

stick in the needle in the middle of the upper outter corner so if yr right handed use your right hand and on the upper right side of your right buttox. initially it will be a bit hard to penetrate. but then once its in its easy to stick the whole thing... or least if yr a bit chubby or have more muscles you might want to stick the whole thing in and inject slowly not to hurt yourself.. make sure it gets in the muscles!!!!!!!! not in the skin or fat tissue you dont want to mess yourself up,, its intra-muscular aka inside the muscle!!! but again you want to stay away from bones..

stick the pin out with fair quickness and then use the alcohol swap thing again,, and DO NOT rub! Only wipe the area not to bruise yourself, a tiny drop of blood may come out but thats ok.

vola! you have just injected yourself.
its better that someone does it for you
and then you learn off from them.
